If you want to ask why not just use web app or GUI program? Why? Let me tell you this "The answer is simple, because we can make it." If you know any programs already do what I described, leave me a link, I would like to check them out. But if you want to have them, you really need such program, please let me know. I am not gonna implement them, because I know I won't be a user of them. I think it's possible to emulate with 256-color, maybe that would already work in 16-color? Making a bigger clock text with boxes, I truly believe it will look like flipping.Īnyway, they are just ideas. You can see the main file, use Space or 2 to switch mode, or double-click on clock. I have written a Chrome Extension, which also works on Firefox. Yes, flip clock in terminal, I believe is doable. Also colors in location text can indicate time ahead or behind the current local time.Īnother idea is flip clock. I think with colors for day and night, it will be a nice way to tell A.M. They are simple clock, just print out the time. But I found this question on StackOverflow, which have some commands that list clocks. I have also tried to find some programs but I didn't find a world clock program which I visualized. So, this is just an idea, I didn't start writing this program. I don't know but I don't really need to know when people get up around the world.

I like the last two styles, so I finished a full set.Ī set of clocks in terminal, how cool is that? Yesterday, I made these in text file with Unicode Box-drawing characters. But I don’t really think I need that other than installing new version of grub. I think I will keep a copy of a kernel build with IA32_EMULATION as failsafe. But it seems to be okay that I don’t need IA32_EMULATION in kernel for booting. I don’t know about the booting, not sure how stage1 and stage2 hand over the control to Linux kernel. I have removed IA32_EMULATION from my kernel. I built the kernel with IA32_EMULATION, rebooted with it, emerged the grub-static-0.97-r10, ran grub-install, booted with previous kernel which didn’t have IA32_EMULATION. Until now, grub-static never got an update. In 2009, I switched to grub-static from grub and installed the grub, then I removed IA32_EMULATION.

I then realized that I can’t run GRUB ( /sbin/grub) to install the new version of GRUB since GRUB is 32-bit and I didn’t have IA32_EMULATION enabled at that moment. After I switched to no-multilib in November, 2009, I haven’t enabled IA32_EMULATION since then, kernel’s (gentoo-sources) version from 2.6.31-r4 to 2.6.36-r5, I never encountered any problem. * Failure to do so may cause unexpected problemsĪt first I was confused, why do I need IA32_EMULATION? And yes, I do need that. * Please check to make sure these options are set correctly. * You will NOT be able to run grub unless you have IA32_EMULATION set! * Checking for suitable kernel configuration options. * Determining the location of the kernel source code
